The Effelsberg radio telescope is a facility of the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, Bonn and with 100m diameterr one of the largest fully mobile radio telescopes in the world. Scientists are searching for extraterrestrial radio waves in order to uncover the secrets of the universe and its origins. The visitor pavilion and the viewing plateau offer you the chance to find out all about the world's largest fully mobile parabolic reflector. However, it is not possible to visit the receiving facilities inside the observatory due to extensive safety regulations.
