WORLD OF MALLS. ARCHITECTURES OF CONSUMPTION
- Events
The Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich is one of the world's largest museums of 20th and 21st century art, graphics, architecture and design. Here you can marvel not only at the unique architecture of the building (rotunda), but also at works by various artists. There are works to discover from Marcel Breuer to Le Corbusier, from Max Beckmann to Neo Rauch.
There is currently a special exhibition here in which the City Outlet Bad Münstereifel is also presented. The exhibition is called „World of Malls. Architectures of Consumption“. The exhibition deals with the building type „malls“, which was invented sixty years ago, spread all over the world at lightning speed and is now on the verge of decline. Many older malls stand empty, while in the mega-metropolises of America, Asia and the Arab Emirates, ever larger new malls are being opened. So where is the trend heading? Do malls mean the destruction of the city or its revival?
Further information can be found on the website of the Pinacotheca!
Many thanks also to Mr. Alexander Jonas, who provided us with the photos
